The Seamless Data Warehouse provides free downloads of Digital Elevation Models, other USGS datasets, The National Map data, and Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) datacenter satellite imagery and aerial photographs.
National Hydrography Dataset – http://nhd.usgs.gov/
The National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) is the surface water component of The National Map. From their website you can download vector datasets that contain features such as lakes, ponds, streams, rivers, canals, dams, and streamgages for the United States and its territories, including Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
